This past weekend I attended the 4th annual TEDx Portland. Over 2,500 people converged on Keller Auditorium to hear some ideas worth spreading. My take is that fans of TED talks, we are a bunch open to inspiration & generally hungry for a different perspective - so the vibe was that of positive optimism as the speakers engaged the audience with their thoughts on the idea of "Perfect" - the 2014 TEDx Portland theme.

I stumbled upon the short film titled Font Men, which was being screened at the SXSW Film Festival and definitely wanted to recommend it to everyone! This 6 minute mini-documentary packs such an amazing amount of information in so little time, it's impressive. Font Men delves into the work and art of Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones, who were the driving forces behind the most successful and well respected type design studio in the world. Aside from biographical, this film also sheds light on the process of creating a font type and the itty bitty nuances of detail that define one from another.

Spring is in the air and my craving for color is still in full swing! I stumbled upon an image of a beautifully textured building screen and had to know more. The work of Toni Cumella, a Barcelona ceramic artist, is at once retro and futuristic. Mr. Cumella's background in industrial engineering paired with his family's legacy in the art of ceramics, come together in these large scale architectural installations that bridge craft and technology.
