Some peeks at this summer's fantastic adventure to Rome, Tuscany, Florence and the Italian Riviera. It was the first time I've ever been to Italy and I was truly blown away. I loved the rich sense of history, decay and renaissance, and the absolute obsession with pattern, symmetry and harmonious scale. Everywhere I looked buildings were created with such poetry and solidity, it made me think of what I do as a designer in a completely different way with new lenses. Being back, it's challenging to take that experience and leverage its influence. I remind myself that these intrinsic lessons we learn as individuals form and shape our process so that each person's creative vision is unique. I now see clearly how one's value as a designer is benefitted by travel opportunities such as this, in a way I never did before.
